Opening of the Main Program at kood/Zhytomyr

At kood/Zhytomyr, every new stage is a step toward reshaping IT education in Ukraine. On September 12, 2025, we proudly kicked-off the Main Program at Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University – a new chapter for our community of learners, partners, and supporters. In 2021, we opened our first campus in a small town in Estonia with a not-so-small ambition — to make high-quality tech education accessible to everyone willing to work for it. Just a few years later, we’re proud to say: we’re growing.

Why is this milestone so important?

The Main Program is the core of the kood model: a 12-month intensive journey that goes far beyond traditional education. No teachers, no grades, no lectures – instead, participants learn by doing, collaborating in teams, and solving real-life challenges that mirror the demands of the tech industry.

This opening marks the beginning of an exciting path for our sprinters: building coding skills, professional resilience, and a strong community that will grow together over the coming year.

Highlights from the Opening Event

The launch ceremony united government officials, employer-stakeholders, and the very first cohort of sprinters stepping into the Main Program.

We were especially honored to welcome Sirje Karis, First Lady of the Republic of Estonia, whose personal visit underlined the value of international partnership and solidarity in challenging times.

We also extend our heartfelt thanks to ESTDEV for their constant trust and support, and to Kaur Järvpõld from kood/Jõhvi, who joined us on this symbolic day. Most importantly, we thank our sprinters – each of you who chose to take a bold step into a new way of learning and a new professional future.

What’s next?

Over the coming year, sprinters will immerse themselves in peer-to-peer learning, tackling projects that range from the fundamentals of programming to advanced real-world applications. This journey is not only about developing tech skills – it is about gaining confidence, adaptability, and the mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.

The kood/Zhytomyr team will continue to work towards the recovery of Zhytomyr region and Ukraine, while empowering reskilling opportunities for everyone who needs them.

This is more than education – it’s about building the future together.
